Happy Ecosystems is a card collecting game about connections in nature developed as part of the Indiecade Climate Jam. The game received the Positive Impact Award for the jam.
Happy Ecosystems includes facts about 10 endangered or threatened animals and the plants, animals, and environmental factors they depend on for survival. It introduces concepts of interdependence, adaptation, conservation, and protection.
Action cards like the Whistleblower Card can help or hinder player goals.
Species cards like this one for the Whooping Crane introduce an animal or plant, including its scientific name.
Environment cards, like this shrublands card, introduce environments important to the featured species.
Some of the action cards refer to direct or indirect interventions, but others, like the starvation card, can refer to natural but distressing processes.
The game in total includes several dozen doodle illustrations. Card sets are indicated by both a color and a small icon in the bottom right of the card.
